DECISION INTEGRITY

Before you decide, put your information to the test

Which elements have been verified? Which hypotheses support a choice, and what could disprove them?
In our practice Decision Integrity means examining the information underpinning a decision: source reliability, assumptions, contradictions, and degrees of uncertainty. The result is an explicit picture of what we know, the available options, and the conditions that would require us to reassess them. This approach can be applied before a crisis, in board preparation, and when reviewing past decisions.
Documents, notes, and an optical lens on a desk: evidence to verify before a decision.

When should you involve our practice?

An engagement may address a new exposure, board preparation for a crisis, or the risks of delegating authority to AI. Each engagement produces materials designed to address a specific need.

GeoCyber briefs and dossiers

The practice develops briefs and dossiers in Strategic Cyber Threat Intelligence to assess exposures, threat actors, critical dependencies, and cyber-geopolitical dynamics. The analysis integrates diverse sources, distinguishes facts, inferences, and scenarios, and translates relevant signals into warning indicators, conditions for changes to the assessment, and implications for decision-making.

Crisis scenarios for boards

The practice designs cyber, geopolitical, and AI crisis scenarios for boards and committees required to make decisions under pressure, with incomplete or contradictory information. The simulation introduces progressive updates, decision points, and competing hypotheses to examine the soundness of the underlying information, escalation criteria, and the resilience of the decision-making process. The discussion reveals information gaps and preparedness priorities.

Decision reviews and AI Risk

The practice conducts independent reviews of the information underpinning critical decisions and the risks associated with delegating authority to AI agents. The analysis reconstructs sources, assumptions, gaps, authorizations, and oversight points, assesses error or manipulation scenarios, and identifies priority checks, intervention thresholds, and conditions that require the assessment to be revised.

A SECOND SPECIALIST AREA

Digital evidence strategy

Digital evidence, digital investigations for the defense, forensic methodology, and support for legal decisions
As a secondary area of work, the practice can also help law firms and businesses determine the course of technical examinations and conduct a critical review of digital evidence. It delivers technical questions, plans for examining the evidence, and reviews of reports, identifying what the materials document and what remains to be verified.

The collaboration with Marco Rota

Crossfield

Successfully launched in early October 2026, CROSSFIELD brings together Federica Bertoni’s and Marco Rota’s expertise in geopolitics, cyber intelligence, and AI risk. The initiative integrates these perspectives to clarify dependencies, scenarios, and the implications of decisions.

DF Integrity

Quality, independence, and verifiability in Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity in Italy
A research initiative examining scientific rigor, professional integrity, and independence in technical judgment in Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity. Its focus is on the verifiability of methods and conclusions, transparency about relevant interests, and the examination of possible organizational and regulatory safeguards to protect rights. Project at the exploratory stage.

An initial engagement with a defined outcome.

Collaboration can begin with a focused assessment and a final memo. To request a proposal, describe the general context, the decision or issue, and the deadline, without sending confidential documents.
An organized dossier and working materials for defining an engagement’s objectives and deliverables.
